🔐 Work4WiFi Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 18, 2026 | Last Updated: January 18, 2026
1. Introduction
Work4WiFi ("we," "our," or "us") is a parental control application designed to help families manage children's internet access through a chore-completion reward system. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and web dashboard.
We are committed to protecting the privacy of families and children. Please read this policy carefully to understand our practices regarding your data.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
- Parents: Email address, password (encrypted), display name
- Children: First name only, age (optional), PIN code (encrypted)
- Family: Unique family invite code, timezone setting
2.2 Chore Verification Photos
- Photos submitted by children as proof of completed chores
- Photos are stored temporarily and deleted according to parent-configured retention settings
- Parents have full control over photo retention policies
2.3 Location Information (Premium Feature)
- GPS location data is collected only when the parent enables the "GPS auto-disable" feature
- Location is used solely to determine if the child's device is at home or away
- Location data is processed on-device and not stored on our servers
- Parents can disable this feature at any time from the dashboard
2.4 Device Information
- Device identifiers for the child's device
- Device name and platform (Android)
- Push notification tokens
- Last active timestamp
2.4 Usage Data
- Chore completion history and statistics
- Internet access timestamps
- App interaction logs for troubleshooting
3. How We Use Your Information
- Chore Verification: Process photos through AI to verify chore completion
- Internet Access Control: Manage WiFi access based on chore completion
- Notifications: Send alerts about pending reviews, security events, and status updates
- Statistics: Display progress and leaderboards within your family
- Service Improvement: Analyze usage patterns to improve the application
- Customer Support: Respond to inquiries and troubleshoot issues
4. AI Photo Processing
Important: Work4WiFi uses artificial intelligence to verify chore completion photos.
- Photos may be processed by OpenAI's vision AI to determine if chores are complete
- AI processing is optional - parents can disable it and use manual review only
- When AI processing is enabled, photos are sent to OpenAI's servers for analysis
- OpenAI does not use your photos to train their models (per their API terms)
- Parents can choose "AI-only" mode where photos are deleted immediately after AI processing
5. VPN Functionality
VPN Disclosure: Work4WiFi uses Android's VPN framework for parental control purposes.
- The VPN operates entirely on-device to block or allow internet access
- No network traffic is routed through external servers
- The VPN does not monitor, log, or transmit browsing history
- It simply acts as an on/off switch for internet access based on parental settings
6. Location Services (Premium Feature)
Location Disclosure: Work4WiFi can use GPS location to automatically adjust internet access based on whether the child is at home.
- Location access is optional and only enabled when parents activate the "GPS auto-disable" feature
- Location is used solely to detect if the child's device is within the home area
- When away from home, internet blocking is automatically disabled (since home WiFi controls don't apply)
- Location data is processed locally on the device and not transmitted to our servers
- No location history is stored or logged
- Parents can disable this feature at any time from the dashboard
7. Data Storage and Security
- Database: User data is stored in MongoDB Atlas with encryption at rest
- Photos: Stored in Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 with server-side encryption
- Passwords: Hashed using industry-standard bcrypt algorithm
- Transmission: All data transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Access Control: Role-based access ensures parents only see their family's data
8. Photo Retention Policies
Parents have full control over how photos are handled:
- Standard (Default): Photos retained for 7 days for parental review, then auto-deleted
- AI-Only: Photos deleted immediately after AI processing (maximum privacy)
- Manual Review Only: AI processing disabled; photos retained until parent reviews
9. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- OpenAI: AI-powered chore verification (when enabled by parent)
- Stripe: Secure payment processing for subscriptions
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): Photo storage
- MongoDB Atlas: Database hosting
- Render: Backend application hosting
- Vercel: Parent dashboard hosting
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing their handling of data.
